Auckland writer, Jean Hendy-Harris first introduced seminars for younger students in 1990, after a number of years’ organisation of live-in seminars for teenagers. Over the years the courses have attracted 8 to 14 year olds from throughout New Zealand – and even as far away as Tonga and the USA.
For more than ten years Jean worked alongside Piet van der Meyden, past president of MENSA New Zealand when together they set up the New Zealand Council for Gifted Education, an educational trust formed in 1990 to disseminate information of interest to high ability students, their schools and their families. She edited the Council newsletter, SSANZ GAZETTE for a number of years.
