Belinda Holmes has sent the following piece of writing which tells us exactly how apprehensive she feels about her first day at a new school.
I wont go to that school and you cant make me. You cant make me no matter how hard you try. Because I'll run away. I'll run away and joing the circus - or even a fun fair. I know - I'll join the fair and sell fairy floss. How old do you have to be to sell fairy floss at the Show? In books its always so easy. Children in books just have tomake the decision to leave then they up and run and everything turns out really well after a numberof really exciting adventures.
I bet though if I try that then Mum and Dad and probably the whole of Grey Lynn will be up at the police station giving detailed descripsions of me.
I never wanted to leave Johnson St and I wish I could go back there. Unpack all my books and the baby toys I dont want to throw away and be back in my old room looking out over the garden.
The Johnson St house is sold though so that bit just isnt possible. But I wont go to that awful school and you cant make me.
