Two seminars were held during the April school holidays at Selwyn College in Auckland; a three day course for Juniors (Years 4 to 6) and a three day course for Seniors (Years 7 to 10). In total over a hundred students attended from all over New Zealand. Craig Springett came all the way from Amuri Area School in North Canterbury and Ethan Hill from Paparoa Range School in Greymouth. We had a splendid group of supervisors as usual who managed to keep us all on time for classes and who sorted out a multitude of minor problems during the six days. Very many thanks to Sue Kenrick, Liz Thompson, Debbie Reyburn, Robyn Bailey, Kathy Hudson and Jocelyn Colton - and a huge thank you to Melanie Blakebrough for stepping in at very short notice to help us out.
Elaine Le Sueur's Crime Scene Investigation classes were once again immensely popular together with Robyn Boswell's Dicing With Dilemmas. The Strategy Games and Diplomacy groups were as lively as ever and in the senior seminar Russell Greenwood's Writers' Workshop was much sought after.
Everyone worked very hard and it was, as usual, difficult to analyse how best to make awards. After a great deal of thought and discussion the following students were nominated.
JUNIOR PRIZEWINNERS WERE: Jessica Roberts (Pokeno), Livne Ore (Onehunga).
JUNIOR MEDAL WINNERS WERE: Alex Boyd (Sandringham) and Caleb Adam (Whakatane).
SENIOR PRIZEWINNERS WERE: Moana Guthrie and Katie Humm (Dargaville), Christopher Jury (Hikuai).
SENIOR MEDAL WINNERS WERE: James Kane (Wellington) and Henry Fitzgerald (Remuera)
