Update on the April 2010 Achieving Potential Seminar!

We had a great 3 days at Selwyn College in Kohimarama just after Easter.   Gifted Education Services provided us with an astonishingly complex Forensic Science workshop followed by Medieval Mayhem of the most mysterious kind.   Some of the participants arrived in appropriate garb and we are grateful to Mr. Paul Willis who loaned us his magnificent collection.   Everybody agreed that the medieval feast, provided by Mrs. Elaine le Sueur and Miss Charlotte Anderson was truly memorable.

The young artists who participated in Hilary Hall's Bruegel and Lowry class turned out some truly impressive pieces of work and Russell Greenwood's Classics sessions were as popular as ever.    But I'm not going to tell you any more because YOU should have been there!

Our awards ceremony was very lively with the following students winning High Achievement Certificates:   OKOKO ANAINGA, SARAH BABE, BENJAMIN DEIGHTON, ALEXANDER DUCAT, DAVID HAMES, SUZY HAMES, RIDDHI KAVALE, WILLIAM LESIAK, ZARINA MAXWELL, LIAM PHILLIPS and DANIEL TIZZARD-CLOSE.

And the three prizewinners were:   MEGGIE BOLTON of Te Awamutu, ZAC CAMPBELL of Katikati and HEBE HILHORST of Queenstown.

YES....there are still a few places left in the April 2010 school holiday workshops!

The good news is that we have some spaces left in our Achieving Potential Seminars at Selwyn College immediately after Easter.   So if you know a student who would like to attend you can email us on info [at] holidayseminars [dot] co [dot] nz - or simply ring our office 09 585 0111.   Elaine le Sueur has one or two spaces in her Forensic Science and Detection groups SUPER SLEUTHS and MEDIEVAL MAYHEM and Paul Willis also has room for especially keen cartoonists.   You can even take a glimpse into ancient Greece and Rome with Russell Greenwood and savour the unique opportunity to handle a range of valuable artefacts.   Check out the programme via NEXT SEMINAR tab above.

School Holiday Courses for students 8 to 15 years......

We are often asked who should attend our school holiday courses.

They are specially designed to cater for the student who is just a little different from the norm in attitudes, behaviour and learning styles.    What kind of children do we mean?

Those who clearly excel academically.....

Creative thinkers and children who consistently think outside the square...

Those capable of operating at an elevated intellectual level in their thinking processes, whilst often finding it impossible to achieve to their potential in the school classroom environment.....

Obviously gifted and talented students whose writing and spelling abilities lag behind their thinking skills...

High level thinking `loners' who have difficulty making meaningful social connections and maintaining friendships...

Children who may jog along in an `average' fashion most of the time, whilst demonstrating a clear skill and ability in one area that lifts them from the norm and causes them to soar above their age peers...

And of course we mean all those students who are keen to experience the opportunity we offer to work in an intensive atmosphere alongside others who are intellectually similar to themselves.

Our April School Holiday Programme brings you......

...the ever popular WILD KID NICK and the premier of `Alfie and Me' a comedy-drama!  Felix takes the class mouse home for the weekend and is clearly keen to take pet care seriously.  Alfie the mouse does not have quite the relaxing weekend he had anticipated.   This mini-epic will take place over three lunchtime breaks so make sure YOU don't miss out!   Peruse the full junior programme via NEXT SEMINAR tab above because you are certain to find workshops to interest you.

School Holiday Courses.....

There is certainly a wide range of school holiday classes, workshops and seminars available for the upcoming April holiday period!   From aspiring young golfers to computer boffins, a veritable feast of activities awaits the six to sixteen year old simply by instigating a brief web search.   However, no matter how vast the possible choice we are convinced that a significant number of Rising Stars, High Flyers and Bright Sparks (not to mention Creative Thinkers, Odd Bods and Tall Poppies), will be heading in our direction all keen to try our April Achieving Potential Seminars at Selwyn College.    We cannot offer anything viable to the true sports enthusiast BUT the young Super Sleuths amongst you will be dead keen to get started on Elaine le Sueur's particular brand of police work - and don't forget the invitation she has extended to attend the wedding at Fernwood Manor.   And if you find that mysteries are simply not to your taste then you can always sit on the Junior OR Senior Jury facilitated by Russell Greenwood and tackle some of the miscreants of modern history.   Or you could opt to hone your game playing skills in our Strategy workshop.   Have a look at the programmes offered (via NEXT SEMINAR tab above) - and make your choice!
